Quail Unlimited President and Guests visit/hunt at
La Escalera Ranch with Outback Outfitters

Edgefield, SC (November 8, 2005) - Rocky Evans, President and Founder of Quail Unlimited, along with several Quail Unlimited VIP guests hunted Scaled Quail at the La Escalera Ranch, courtesy of Billy Jackson, of Outback Outfitters this past weekend. It was the first visit to West Texas for all of the four hunters, including former QU President, Al Ward from Topeka. The other guests were Wink McWhirter and Rex Johnson, Directors of the NE Georgia Chapter of Quail Unlimited, in Athens, GA.
"I wanted to give Quail Unlimited a taste of real West Texas quail hunting and hospitality," reported outfitter and local police officer, Billy Jackson. "I guess that I was tired of seeing South Texas get all of the attention, and all of the tourism revenue.”

Rocky Evans, President of Quail Unlimited, reported, "I was truly amazed at the number of birds that we found on the La Escalera Ranch. The hunting here is vastly different from traditional Bobwhite Quail Hunting. While the southern Bobwhite hunter is more into dog work, fine guns, and tradition, I found that the fast action of West Texas would make the heart of even the most notable of Bobwhite hunters beat fast with the whirl wind style of hunting and fast action found here. I saw more wild birds in my two days here than in a normal season of Bobwhite hunting". Evans continued, "West Texas gunning for Blues may be the best kept secret in Quail Hunting. Many communities thrive off of the increase in tourism and trade, brought in by quail hunters. Albany Georgia considers itself The Quail Hunting Capitol of the World. Fort Stockton may well be the Scaled Quail Hunting Capitol of the Nation.
